All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has called for a nationwide shutdown on October 3

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has called for a nationwide shutdown on October 3 to protest against the proposed amendments to the Waqf Act.

According to the Board, the amendments pose a threat not only to the Muslim community but also to constitutional freedoms and the very existence of Waqf properties. Leaders clarified that the movement will remain peaceful, aiming solely to oppose what they term as "unjust changes" to the law. Imams across the country have been urged to raise awareness and ensure full participation.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court observed that the constitutional validity of the law needs to be examined. However, some controversial provisions have been allowed to remain in effect, sparking widespread discontent.

The October 3 protest will include marches, sit-ins, and mass participation to press the government to withdraw the amendments.
