Alleged Data Trafficking under the Guise of Survey in Basanti, Young Woman Detained
Ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections, a case of alleged data trafficking under the guise of a survey has come to light in Basanti, South 24 Parganas. A young woman, Sujata Saha, was found collecting personal and political data from local residents in the Kathalberia area. She reportedly filled out forms and sent them to a research company in Dwarka, New Delhi. These forms allegedly contained sensitive information, including Aadhar numbers and voter IDs. Locals grew suspicious and questioned her, eventually handing her over to the Basanti police. MLA Shyamal Mondal claimed that this was part of a larger conspiracy by the central government to collect and send data from Bengal to Delhi. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
