BJP Leader Arrested for Allegedly Beating Police Officer During Vishwakarma Puja Night Incident

A BJP leader, Govind Bhattacharya, has been arrested on charges of assaulting a police officer during the Vishwakarma Puja night in Bongaon. The officer, Kaushik Debnath, was reportedly attacked after a dispute with a group of drunk youths in the Chapabaria area. Govind allegedly sided with the youths and assaulted Kaushik with a sharp weapon, causing injuries to his eyes, chest, and head. The officer was rescued by locals and admitted to Bongaon hospital for treatment. Following the incident, a complaint was filed against Govind, and the police arrested him the following night. Govind claims that he has been falsely implicated due to his association with the BJP. TMC's Bongaon district president, Bishwajit Das, has accused Govind of being involved in antisocial activities and called for the arrest of the MLA, Ashok Kirtania, as well.
