Fascism: Philosophy, Ideals, and Practice – The Thought of M.N. Roy

In 1938, M.N. Roy’s book "Fascism: Its Philosophy, Professions, and Practices" was first published. The Bengali translation, "Fascism: Philosophy, Ideals, and Practice", was released by Deshbrati Publications. The original text is supplemented with Roy’s anti-fascist pamphlets and two key speeches. Additionally, the first volume of the History of the Communist Movement, published by CPI(ML) Liberation in 1991, includes a brief biography of M.N. Roy. A foreword by Dipankar Bhattacharya makes the subject matter even more relevant and timely.

Roy, in his analysis of European fascism, identifies India’s Brahmanical culture as a fertile ground for the growth of fascism. During his imprisonment, Roy wrote in his notebook, “Under the saffron flag of traditional nationalism, it is not Swaraj and Ramrajya, but rather the possibility of a Hitler-like regime that seems more likely.” This work remains profoundly relevant today, given the growing fascist threats in contemporary India.
