“If Netanyahu Lands in New York, He Will Be Arrested” — Zoharan Mamdani

New York City Mayor Zoharan Mamdani has declared that if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accused of war crimes, sets foot in New York, he would order the NYPD to arrest him.

In an interview with The New York Times, Mamdani stated that Netanyahu is committing genocide in Gaza and that the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) must be respected by detaining him at the airport.

However, international legal experts clarified that since the United States is not a member of the ICC, the NYPD has no legal authority to arrest the Israeli Prime Minister, as doing so could violate federal law.

Given the large Israeli community in New York, Mamdani’s statement has sparked concern among Jewish leaders, while many ordinary citizens opposed to the Gaza offensive have welcomed his bold remarks.
