Mohenjo-Daro: A Democratic Civilization and Its Destruction
Mohenjo-Daro, once a hub for the non-Brahmin Dravidian and Dalit communities, remains a mystery for historians. There were no royal palaces or temples found there, which leads scientists to believe that Mohenjo-Daro was not a monarchical or theocratic civilization, but rather a highly advanced democracy.
The city’s bathhouse was an extraordinary structure, with water sourced through underground channels from the Indus River. The drainage system, too, was advanced, with underground drains—an incredible feat of engineering for its time.
This highly developed civilization eventually caught the attention of the Bargee Aryans from Central Asia, who arrived on horseback and began looting. After nearly 20 years of destruction, Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa were obliterated. The Mughals and the British did not carry out such destruction—this was the work of foreign Aryans.
Even today, we remain under their control, with these same forces now pretending to be secular, friends of the poor, or promoting Hindutva. Why do we continue to trust them? Should we not be more cautious?
