Moving Forward with Multiple Projects and Goals: Chandpur Alia Academy
Special Report by Bangadarpon – In the present time and situation, there is a great lack of value-based education. Students are only receiving colorful marksheets, certificates, and testimonials through bookish education. But in reality, they remain disconnected from society and develop no sense of responsibility toward the nation. For this, not only are the young students responsible, but more so is the surrounding social system.
In such a context, in 2015, renowned educationist and social worker of Deganga, late Alhaj Mohammad Shafiqul Rahman, established Chandpur Alia Academy for Boys on his own land with sincere efforts. Being the founder of multiple institutions and accepted as a social worker, his purpose was to create true human beings. For this reason, from the very beginning, along with syllabus-based modern education, he included religious and moral education. His aim was to shape humans filled with humanity, conscience, wisdom, moral thought, and religious ideals.
Within ten years, this institution has flourished. In addition to the Boys’ section, a Girls’ section was started in 2018, right before the lockdown period. On 12th August 2020, this noble-hearted social worker and educationist passed away. After his demise, his son, Alhaj Dr. Firoz Uddin Mohammad Shafi, himself a teacher and social worker, took charge as the editor. Under his strong leadership and management, Chandpur Alia Academy for Boys has been progressing steadily.
This higher secondary-level institution provides education from class V to class XII on a residential basis. Students are provided with a proper learning environment, hygienic food, continuous coaching morning and evening, and special coaching for weaker students. Separate hostel and school buildings with modern facilities such as digital classrooms, science labs, computer labs, and a conference hall are available. Each class has responsible teachers along with room teachers who take care of coaching both morning and evening.
It is undeniable that branded institutions generally admit first-grade meritorious students, while such institutions are more suitable for second-grade students. The tireless efforts of teachers here ensure that these students achieve commendable results, particularly in secondary and higher secondary exams.
Along with five daily prayers, Quran training and minimum Islamic education are provided. With the relentless effort of the institution’s authorities and teachers, the students are achieving success — that is the greatest reward.
Dr. Shafi stated:
“After passing higher secondary from here, many of our students are studying engineering, paramedical, and management courses. I believe they will establish themselves and contribute to the mission’s reputation. From our separate NEET campus, several students have succeeded every year in medical entrance exams. Therefore, from this academic year, the Board of Trustees has decided to launch a separate NEET batch within the main campus itself, at minimal cost for talented and underprivileged students. We also plan to start a department for competitive exams like WBCS and WBPS where meritorious students can study at minimal cost.”
He further said:
“Currently, admission forms for classes V to IX are available both online and offline. The entrance exam will be held on 5th October 2025 (Sunday) from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Special scholarships will be provided for poor but talented students. For class XI (Science & Arts), interested candidates and guardians can check details on our official website www.chandpuraliaacademy.org. NEET and WBCS/WBPS residential batches will also be introduced soon, InshaAllah. NEET batch will enroll 40 students through a personality test, while WBCS & WBPS batches will also admit 40 students each through proper procedures.”
The hostel ensures hygienic food, clean bedrooms, toilets, bathrooms, arsenic-free drinking water, and uninterrupted power supply with generators. The institution’s aim is purely non-commercial and welfare-oriented.
Situated in a serene, rural, and walled environment, the goal is to build ideal human beings, said Dr. Shafi. This academy, under GD Study Circle (the largest educational platform of West Bengal), remains committed to supporting underprivileged students. By 2026, the academy plans to establish:
For this, approvals are being processed with West Bengal University of Health Sciences, West Bengal State University, and West Bengal Bar Council.
Dr. Shafi added:
“We are hopeful that by the 2026 academic session, our ‘Chandpur Alia Academy Management Council’ will receive the necessary approvals for both colleges. Poor and meritorious students will be able to study at minimal cost with all facilities. Our aim is to build successful lives for students and provide employment-oriented education to make them self-reliant. Our institution is duly registered under the West Bengal Trust Registration Act, approved by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, and Income Tax Department, and is ISO-certified.”
Finally, the authorities seek advice and cooperation from parents, guardians, education enthusiasts, and respected personalities. Dr. Shafi expressed hope:
“We believe our institutions will soon gain recognition as national institutions serving the nation, InshaAllah.”
