Oman Ranked Fifth Safest Country in the World: 2025 Safety Index by Numbeo

Muscat, Saturday, September 20, 2025 – Oman has secured a spot as the fifth safest country in the world, according to the 2025 Safety Index compiled by the international data-based platform Numbeo.

Numbeo evaluated 146 countries, with Oman scoring 81.7 points, placing it in fifth position. Only Andorra (84.7), the United Arab Emirates (84.5), Qatar (84.2), and Taiwan (82.9) rank above Oman on this list.

The report states that crime rates in Oman are extremely low. Residents rarely express concern about house break-ins, theft, robbery, or vehicle-related crimes. Walking alone during the day is considered very safe, and even nighttime walking has a high safety rating.

Numbeo’s index assesses various factors, including homicide, robbery, assault, other forms of violence, and public perceptions of safety during daytime and nighttime. Safety scores are determined based on surveys submitted by users and crime-related data.

Among the top five countries, Oman shares the list with other nations in the Middle East and East Asia, such as Qatar, the UAE, and Taiwan. Additionally, the Isle of Man achieved a high rank, securing sixth place.

Andorra, a small state located between France and Spain, topped the list as the safest country, scoring 84.7 points. Its strong safety system, low crime rate, tourism-based economy, and long life expectancy contribute to its recognition as the world’s safest country.

The Numbeo Safety Index provides an overall picture of a country’s crime levels. A crime index below 20 is considered “very low,” 20–40 is “low,” and above 60 is “high.” This index serves as a valuable reference for those interested in traveling to or living in a country.
