Showdown Over Gaza: Israel vs Iran—A New Shadow of War in the Middle East
Special Report | Online Bangodarpan
The Israel–Palestine conflict has entered a new phase. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the evacuation of the Gaza Strip and deployed troops in the region, escalating the situation to a dangerous level.
Palestine’s Hamas, Lebanon’s Hezbollah led by Hassan Nasrallah, and Yemen’s Houthi fighters are ready for battle. Alongside them, Iran—often called the ‘superpower’ of the Muslim world—remains fully prepared.
A New Dimension of War
Observers believe that in this conflict, new types of weapons may be used that have never been deployed before. The possibility of a major strike on Tel Aviv or Jaffa cannot be ruled out—reminding many of the October 7 attacks.
Iran’s Position
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has declared that “surrender does not exist in our dictionary.” He affirmed that Iran is fully prepared to resist any Israeli or American assault. He also warned that U.S. airbases in the Middle East could be targeted, since, according to Iran, many attacks are being carried out from those bases.
Regional and Global Reactions
China, Russia, and Turkey have expressed support for Iran. However, several Muslim nations in the Middle East have refrained from directly opposing Israel and the U.S. due to political interests. Saudi Arabia’s stance has drawn the most criticism, as analysts argue that its monarchy prioritizes survival over resistance. Some experts predict that this could one day lead to a transformation of Saudi Arabia’s political system into a republican or democratic model.
