The Martyr of the Desert: Omar Al-Mukhtar (RA) – September 16, 1931
Today, on September 16, 1931, the Italian colonialists hanged the lion of the desert, Omar Al-Mukhtar (RA), making him a martyr. For 20 years, he led the fight against the Italian occupiers in the deserts of Libya. After his capture, he was offered freedom on the condition that he write to stop the jihad of the Mujahideen.
But he roared back:
“The finger with which I testify every day, ‘There is no god but Allah’—with that finger, I will never write a lie. We do not surrender to anyone except Allah. We either win, or we are martyred.”
His martyrdom lit the sky of Libya with the light of freedom. He lives on in every heart that yearns for liberty. May Allah grant him a high rank in Jannah.
