Tragedy in Andhra Pradesh: Bengali Migrant Worker Killed Over Mobile Theft Suspicion

Special Report – Online Bangadarpon:
Another shocking case of violence against migrant workers has emerged in Andhra Pradesh. A 37-year-old Bengali migrant laborer, Raju Talukdar, from Betai Lalbazar Mathpara in Nadia district, was brutally attacked and later succumbed to his injuries after being accused of mobile theft.

According to sources, Raju and his brother, along with several others, had migrated to Visakhapatnam about five months ago for work. On 29th August, after a local worker lost his mobile phone, suspicion fell upon the Bengali laborers. Enraged locals allegedly assaulted Raju and others, striking him and his brother with sharp weapons.

Though Raju was hospitalized and showed slight improvement, his family decided to bring him back home for continued care. However, on the way at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, his condition deteriorated. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

This incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability and unsafe conditions faced by Bengali migrant workers outside the state.
